Installing an aerating fountain in your fishing lake not only improves the overall health of the ecosystem but also enhances the fishing experience. Consider the benefits of better water quality, increased oxygen levels, and reduced mosquito populations. Additionally, an aerating fountain can also add aesthetic appeal to your fishing lake. The sight and sound of water cascading and spraying into the air can create a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere, enhancing the overall ambiance of the area. Whether you have a private fishing lake or a commercial fishing spot, the installation of an aerating fountain can bring both practical and visual benefits that will enhance the experience for anglers and visitors alike.
Key Benefits
Improved Water Quality: Installing an aerating fountain in your fishing lake can greatly improve the water quality. The fountain helps to circulate the water, preventing stagnation and reducing the risk of algae blooms. This creates a healthier environment for fish to thrive in.
Enhanced Oxygen Levels: Aeration provided by the fountain increases the oxygen levels in the lake. This is crucial for the well-being of fish, as oxygen is essential for their survival. Adequate oxygen levels promote fish growth and vitality, resulting in a more productive fishing experience.
Mosquito Control: Aerating fountains can help control mosquito populations in your fishing lake. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, but the constant movement created by the fountain disrupts their breeding grounds. This reduces the annoyance of mosquitoes for both anglers and fish.
Our Installation at the Cowden Holiday Park Fishing Pond
The pond at the Cowden Holiday Park is an excellent size. With 28 pegs to fish from and several fishing matches taking place throughout the season, fish health and happiness is high on the management’s priority list. There was an aerating fountain installed already in the pond but after several years of use it was time for an upgrade and a new lease of life for the fish.
We ran through several fountain options with the owners and talked extensively through the pros and cons of aeration vs aesthetics. (Generally speaking, the fancier the jet patten the less aeration it provides.) They chose an excellent fountain which processes up to 165,000 litres of water every hour and gives fantastic aeration for the fish.
We assembled the fountain in the workshop, with the additional floating fountain LED light set, and headed to Cowden to carry out the installation. Unfortunately, the dry suit we used had seen slightly better days and after an hour or so in the water, removing the old fountains, connecting the ground anchors and running the electrical cables, we were just as wet as the fish! It was all worth it however, with a good group of on lookers and fishermen from the park, the electrical connections were complete and the fountain roared into life.
With the ever-increasing temperatures of the British summers the additional aeration will help provide vital oxygen for the fish next season, keeping algae low and water quality high. We hope it will also provide additional tranquillity and enjoyment for the fishermen and residence of the Cowden Holiday Park alike.
